Job Description

Job Purpose

  • Responsible for coordinating and supervising the work of employees in the general maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment (camps and remote sites). 
  • Responsible for maintaining electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and related systems. Performs the work of employees and other duties as required.

Key Accountabilities

  • Follow all applicable policies and procedures required for the successful execution of the job;
  • Follow the IMS Policy and meet the requirements of the organization’s Integrated Management System which is compliant to international standards for Quality (ISO 9001), Food Safety (ISO 22000), Occupational Health & Safety (OHSAS 18001), and Environmental Management System (ISO 14001);
  • Cooperate with internal and external auditors;
  • Make recommendations for continual improvement and support improvement initiatives the company undertakes.


  • Supervises and assigns the work of maintenance employees, and inspects work for completeness;
  • Determines material, equipment, and supplies to be used. Transfers equipment and personnel from one project to another as necessary;
  • Coordinates and inspects major contract work on the electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other related systems in all locations;
  • Reviews the operation of equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement;
  • Identifies best-cost options for corporate purchases such as mobile phones, office furniture, uniforms etc. Negotiates rates, obtains quotations, recommends best purchase and prepares any necessary contractual requirements for approval of MCS. Keeps records of all purchases made;
  • Co-ordinates car leasing and rental agreements across the divisions to secure the optimum price. Provides fuel cards as required;
  • Communicates regularly with all maintenance technicians, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues;
  • Directs, motivates, supervises and coaches reporting staff to perform to the best of their abilities;
  • Prepares regular reports to the Administration Manager on maintenance activities. Prepares LPO’s for approved purchases and monitors spend on office equipment and furniture against budget;
  • Conducts employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenance technicians;
  • Thorough knowledge of the occupation hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties.
Job Context
To supervise the provision of Maintenance support services to all Company properties to ensure that all operation continues without necessary disruptions due to equipment, machinery or services through breakdown or non- availability.

Qualifications &  Working Relationships

  • Engineering qualification;
  • Certification in practical skill area such as engineering, electrical, construction etc;
  • Good Spoken and written English;
  • Previous experience of managing a maintenance function;
  • Previous staff management;
  • Negotiation and contract formulation;
  • Operation of service agreements;
  • Experience in camps, remote sites
