Job Description

Job Purpose

To develop & maintain Existing and New Key Clients for Non-Food & Food Supplies by regular visits to clients, to start with East Africa. Pickup tendering & long term supply opportunities for technical & food supplies by regular visits to clients in the geographical region. Represents & Promotes Group Services & Capabilities to Key Clients. Works towards obtaining highest possible level of sales with the Key Clients. Provide Local Market Intelligence for current or new projects. Assists Technical Services Department in Sales.

Key Accountabilities

  • Follow all applicable policies and procedures required for the successful execution of the job;
  • Follow the IMS Policy and meet the requirements of the organization's Integrated Management System which is compliant to international standards for Quality (ISO 9001), Food Safety (ISO 22000), Occupational Health & Safety (OHSAS 18001), and Environmental Management System (ISO 14001);
  • Cooperate with internal and external auditors;
  • Make recommendations for continual improvement and support improvement initiatives the company undertakes;
  • Consistent, successful output at work in relation to company policies and procedures;
  • Consistent, successful output at work in relation to IMS standards;
  • Ability to answer questions appropriately and close findings promptly;
  • Evidence of quality-improvement initiatives.

Description

  • Establishes and Maintain Key Accounts for Non-Food & Food Supplies in the geographic region;
  • Establishes and maintains excellent rapport with Potential Clients in the Various Markets to ensure best business relationships and hold negotiations on pricing and budgetary limits; 
  • Promotes Principals  & Assists in Achieving Principal Sales Targets (eg. Grainger);
  • Identifies needs to grow the business;
  • Liaises with Government Ministries and distributors in other countries to discuss and agree policies affecting own label;
  • Manages sales performance and gross profits to ensure targets are met and seek justification for any variances;
  • Identifies staff & staff development needs to meet the business requirements;
  • Manages staff in accordance with agreed company policies and budgets, handles all necessary staff issues including disciplinary matters;
  • Oversee and control debtor levels monthly;
  • Produces business reviews and reports for Commercial manager;
  • Research into all potential markets;
  • Actively seeks opportunities to promote Group Services and Capabilities to  Key Clients; 
  • Ensure all legal guidelines are followed per country.
Job Context
  • Maintain records of requirements of customers and constantly works in promoting group capabilities;
  • Provide clear reporting on Long to Short Terms Sales opportunities and means of achieving of the same;
  • Calculate parameters specific to discounts, rebates, cost supports and others;
  • Oversees deliveries of invoices and statements for items sold & payments made;
  • Identifies and maximises opportunities to increase sales and develop key accounts;
  • Work with Country & Operations Managers for any joint sales or tender opportunities;
  • Gather Local Market Intelligence and assist in strategic long term plans – (eg. Project Tanwie);
  • Promoting Principals & assists in achieving Principal Sales Targets (eg. Grainger);
  • Assist Technical Services Department in Sales;
  • Assist in internal documentation & order processing.  

Communications & working relationships

   Internal

  • Procurement Team – Product Pricing, Submission of RFQ’s and deliveries;
  • Logistics Team – Information of day to day operations, product information, and delivery schedule etc;
  • Customer Service – Submission of Quotes, Inquires, Sales Updates, Deliveries;
  • Service providers – communication relating to systems etc;
  • Divisional Manager – Sales Strategy, New Business Development, Project requirements;
  • Other Company divisions – Product requirements, Opportunities for Joint Sales

External

  • Principals – Information relating to products, costing, purchase orders etc;
  • Customers – Information relating to purchase orders, RFQ’s, costing etc;

Frameworks boundaries and decision making authority

  • Independent decisions taken in matters relating to day to day dept. operations;
  • Independent decision taken in matters relating to immediate reporting staff issues;
  • Major issues relating to depts./ external agencies consulted with product manager and sales consultant.

Qualifications, experience & skills

  • University Degree in sales & marketing or supply chain;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English, Arabic & French. Swahili (Advantage);
  • At least 4 years of recent Experience in the similar role in the region (East Africa);
  • Ability to study and aware of changes in trends of the local & regional market;
  • Existing relations with Key Accounts;
  • Past performance of constantly achieving sales target in similar field;
  • Internet knowledge – able to demonstrate experience in research over the net;
  • Critical thinking – using logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions and approaches to problems;
  • Numerate, with good attention to detail;
  • Production of accurate paperwork;
  • Valid International Driving License;
  • Team player, confident and professional;
  • Able to travel constantly in the region;
  • Able and willing to handle any of the products distributed by the company.
